Angela J. Shutty is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s San Fernando Valley office location.
   Originally from the state of Pennsylvania, Ms. Shutty began her corporate career at the Corporate Headquarters of the Rite Aid Corporation located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania subsequent to obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and also obtaining a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
   Working in all phases of corporate taxation at that position, she developed an interest in the legal field and relocated to California to pursue a Law Degree at the University of San Diego where she obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree.  Combining her interests in tax and accounting drew her to Price Waterhouse in Los Angeles to become a tax attorney.
   For more than 15 years, she has worked solely in the field of workers’ compensation defense as an attorney representing insurance carriers and employers.

   Bryan R. Bush is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Orange County location.
   Mr. Bush earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at Pepperdine University School of Law. Mr. Bush is licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan, as well as in California.
   Mr. Bush began his career working in civil litigation for one of the largest civil litigation firms based in Orange County. While there, Mr. Bush assisted the firm in starting its workers’ compensation defense practice.
   Mr. Bush is completely conversant in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense, including defending serious and willful and §132(a) claims. Additionally, Mr. Bush has an active subrogation practice on behalf of our clients. While able to handle either subrogation or workers’ compensation defense, Mr. Bush is able to easily blend both defending the workers’ compensation claim, while also pursuing subrogation in the same matter; thus, assisting clients to reduce their overall costs.
   Mr. Bush is admitted to practice before the Southern and Central Federal Districts in California, as well as all of the State Courts in California.

   Carey A. Guynes is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Pasadena office location.  Ms. Guynes earned her Undergraduate Degree from the University of La Verne before going on to earn her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of La Verne College of Law.
   Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2002, Ms. Guynes worked in the field of workers’ compensation defense for several years earning experience in all aspects of representation of employers and insurance entities in workers’ compensation matters.
   Currently, Ms. Guynes represents employers, insurance companies, self-insured entities as well as uninsured employers in all standard litigation of matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).  Ms. Guynes also represents employers and self-insured entities in matters involving 132a discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations.

   Christina A. Hindman is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our San Diego office location. Ms. Hindman earned her Undergraduate Degree at the University of California, San Diego before going on to earn her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law. Ms. Hindman came to Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2005 after gaining several years of experience litigating workers’ compensation matters in the San Joaquin Valley.
   Ms. Hindman brings her substantial experience in the aggressive defense of all workers’ compensation matters, including standard claims litigation, 132a discrimination allegations and serious and willful misconduct filings, to our firms southern most office.
   Currently, Ms. Hindman works with third party administrators, insurance entities, self-insured entities and employers to vigorously protect their interests before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.

Biography

   Christopher D. Lear is currently the Managing Attorney of the Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Orange County office location.
   After obtaining his Undergraduate Degree from Western State University, Mr. Lear went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree at Western State University College of Law.
   Upon becoming licensed to practice law in California, Mr. Lear gained experience in a number of areas of law before beginning employment with State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) in 1999.  After four years of experience in workers’ compensation matters with SCIF, Mr. Lear began his tenure with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2003, bringing his strong litigation background and breadth of knowledge to the firm.
   Mr. Lear is also a proud member of the United States Army Reserve since 1987.

   Dalton L. Hooks, Jr. is the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Las Vegas Office.
  Mr. Hooks represents clients in connection with employment related disputes in State and Federal Courts and before administrative agencies. Mr. Hooks also advises clients in various areas of employment law with a focus on workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health. Mr. Hooks has more than 17 years of experience in occupational safety and workers’ compensation law in Nevada and was formerly the Chief Administrative Officer of the Nevada OSHA Consultation Section (SCATS). As a former compliance officer with the Nevada OSHA program, Mr. Hooks conducted inspections in both general industry and construction settings including accident and fatality investigations.
  Mr. Hooks is an experienced trainer and former adjunct professor at UNLV. Mr. Hooks’ unique background and training make him an effective and knowledgeable advocate. Mr. Hooks is licensed to practice before all State and Federal Courts in the State of Nevada. He is a member of various local bar associations.

Dan O’Brien is currently the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Fresno office location.  He is a member of the California Bar, the American Bar Association and the Fresno County Bar Association.  He has been a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law as Certified by the Sate Bar of California and is an AV Rated Attorney by Martin-Dale-Hubbell Peer Review.
   He has argued and tried cases representing insurance carriers, self-insured employers and public agencies of all types before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB), the California Appellate Courts and the California Supreme Court.
   Mr. O’Brien has served as an instructor for the Insurance Education Association (IEA) and has been a frequent speaker on workers’ compensation at local meetings and state conventions.  Mr. O’Brien has more than 30 years of experience in workers’ compensation defense and has served as a Pro-Tempore Judge before the WCAB.
    He is a graduate of San Diego State University and Southwestern University School of Law.  He as been listed in Who’s Who in California and Who’s Who in American Law and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Worker’s Compensation Defense Attorneys Association.  He has been active in many charitable, community and fraternal organizations and served as a Naval Flight Officer in Viet Nam where he was awarded an Air Medal with three Gold Stars.

   Daniel R. Brown is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Culver City office location.  Mr. Brown earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Arizona before earning his Juris Doctorate Degree with Golden Gate University.
    Mr. Brown joined the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2007 bringing numerous years of workers’ compensation defense litigation experience to the firm.
   Mr. Brown currently represents third party administrators, insurance entities, self-insured entities, employers and uninsured employers in all matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) including standard defense litigation, 132a discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations.

   Danielle C. Cervantes is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Fresno office location.  Ms. Cervantes earned her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fresno, before attending Western State University College of Law where she earned her Juris Doctorate Degree.
   Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2005, Ms. Cervantes had several years of litigation experience.  While attending Western State University College of Law, Ms. Cervantes earned numerous academic awards and honors having substantial involvement with both the American Bar Association and the Law Student Bar Association.

   Darlene M. Ball is currently the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Pismo Beach office location and is a member in good standing of the California Bar.
   She has more than 16 years of experience in civil litigation, including employment law and workers’ compensation law in California.  She has tried cases in front of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) and the Superior Courts of California.  She is licensed to practice before all California State Courts, the Federal District Courts for the eastern and southern districts of California and for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  In addition to the California Bar Association, she is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association.

   David M. Weitzman is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Thousand Oaks office location.  After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Mr. Weitzman continued on to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree from Southwestern School of Law.
   Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2006, Mr. Weitzman developed years of experience with civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters and has brought this experience to our firm.  Mr. Weitzman handles all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation including civil subrogation, standard litigation, 132a discrimination allegations and serious and willful misconduct allegations.
   Prior to beginning his undergraduate and law school studies, Mr. Weitzman served honorably in the United States Air Force as a Security Specialist.

   Debra S. Tobias is a Certified Worker’s Compensation Specialist and an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Thousand Oaks office location.  She is a graduate of California State University at Northridge, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Ms. Tobias thereafter went on to study law at Southwestern University School of Law, graduating in 1990 with a Juris Doctor degree.
   Ms. Tobias has been an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly since 2003 and brings to the firm nearly 20 years of legal experience in civil and workers’ compensation litigation.  Prior to joining Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, Ms. Tobias worked as in-house legal counsel for a major national worker’s compensation insurance carrier and also worked as in-house counsel for a national corporation litigating First Amendment matters and cases arising under the Federal Freedom of Information Act.  Ms. Tobias also worked with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office conducting preliminary Hearings and co-chairing misdemeanor trials at Central Trial in Los Angeles and Van Nuys. She also worked with the California State Attorney General’s office writing criminal appellate briefs on behalf of the State as a responding party. Ms. Tobias has represented insurance entities, employers, third party administrators and uninsured employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation including standard defense litigation, 132a discrimination allegations and serious and willful misconduct claims.
  Ms. Tobias is well-versed in the depositions of injured workers, physicians, and witnesses. Her creative, aggressive and earnest approach to claims has resulted in numerous "Take Nothing" Awards at trial, during her career as a defense attorney.

   Dona L. Skeren is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP. After finishing her undergraduate education at California State University, Fullerton, Ms. Skeren graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law with her Juris Doctorate Degree.
   While attending Golden Gate University School of Law, Ms. Skeren was a law review staff member and received several academic awards in her studies. Ms. Skeren has been an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly since 1995 and has also assisted in the editing and publication of Judge David W. O’Brien’s California Workers’ Compensation Claims and Benefits and Unemployment Insurance treatises.
   Throughout her 15 years as an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, Ms. Skeren has represented insurance entities, third party administrators and employers in all aspects of defending workers’ compensation matters, including standard defense of claims, 132a discrimination allegations, serious and willful allegations and all other related matters.

   E. Cruz Eusebio is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Riverside office location since 2007.  Mr. Eusebio earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Carlton College before obtaining his Juris Doctorate Degree at Western State University College of Law.
    Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, Mr. Eusebio accrued 15 years of experience aggressively litigating workers’ compensation matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
    Mr. Eusebio has substantial experience litigating all issues relating to workers’ compensation before the WCAB.  In addition to litigating standard workers’ compensation issues, Mr. Eusebio represents employers, uninsured employers and self-insured entities in 132a and serious and willful misconduct allegations.

   Eric E. Ostling is the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Sacramento office location.  Mr. Ostling earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of California, Davis, before attending the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree.  Not being satisfied with a Juris Doctorate Degree, Mr. Ostling continued and obtained his Master of Law and Taxation, Degree also from the University of the Pacific.
    Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in 2007, Mr. Ostling obtained many years of experience in litigating both civil and workers’ compensation issues before various Northern California Superior Courts as well as the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).  As a result of this litigation experience, Mr. Ostling brings with him a breadth of knowledge on subrogation and civil litigation matters to supplement his ability to represent the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s clients before the WCAB.
   Currently, Mr. Ostling represents employers, insurance entities, self-insured entities and third party administrators before the WCAB on standard workers’ compensation defense, subrogation, 132a discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations.
   Mr. Ostling also has a published article in the Pacific Law Journal.

   Erica S. Willis joined the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Camarillo office location in August of 2006.  Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, she was Supervisor of Educational Development and Business Practices at Workers’ Compensation Central where she became familiar with the law and participants in the workers’ compensation industry. 
   Ms. Willis’ other experience includes an externship in entertainment law, volunteer work in the area of special education law, as well as work in a civil plaintiff’s law firm.  She is a December 2004 graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law and is admitted to practice law in California as well as the United States District Court, Central District of California.

   Franco Yaconelli is an associate attorney in Floyd, Skeren & Kelly's Culver City office. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada – Reno, Franco attended McGeorge Law School/University of the Pacific in Sacramento, CA.
   For the last 5 years Franco has specialized in workers’ compensation where he actively defends insurance companies, third party administrators, and employers. Additionally, his expertise expands to successfully defending Labor Code Section 132a discrimination matters. In his free time Franco enjoys traveling, cooking, and engaging in both martial arts and personal training.

   George Sickman is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Ventura County office location.  Mr. Sickman obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio State University before moving forward to obtain his Masters Degree from the University of Southern California and, ultimately, his Juris Doctorate Degree from Western State University.
   Since joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2007, Mr. Sickman has brought his nearly 25 years of legal experience and certified specialist designation to bear on the defense of workers’ compensation matters.

   Gregory E. Palmberg is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Ventura County office location.  Mr. Palmberg obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University before moving forward to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of La Verne School of Law.

   Hagop Baronian is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Pasadena office location.    James K. Lowery is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Thousand Oaks office location.  After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Northridge, Mr. Lowery moved forward to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree at the University of La Verne College of Law.
   Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2003, Mr. Lowery had obtained years of experience in standard workers’ compensation defense as well as expertise in the myriad of nuances in handling complex and high exposure lien matters.

   Jason C. Hilfrink is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Thousand Oaks office location.  Mr. Hilfrink’s expertise is dedicated to the representation of employers, insurance entities, self-insured entities and third party administrators in all aspects of California workers’ compensation law.
   Mr. Hilfrink has also been heavily involved with FSK Publishing.  He has worked closely with retired Judge David W. O’Brien on such esteemed publications as California Workers’ Compensation Claims and Benefits (10th, 11th and 12th Editions) and California Unemployment and Disability Compensation Programs (10th Edition). 
   Currently, he also prepares and writes Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s monthly newsletter sent to over 1,000 readers. In the past, Mr. Hilfrink was also a staff member for the National Journal of Administrative Law Judges.

   Joel S. Allan is an associate attorney in the Los Angeles County location of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, where he handles the defense of workers’ compensation claims. As a member of the firm’s employment group, Mr. Allan also handles labor and employment issues and provides support to other attorneys in the southern California offices when such issues arise in conjunction with their cases.
    Mr. Allan started defending workers’ compensation cases in 2004. Over his career he has gained experience defending government entities, with particular experience in fire and sheriff cases, self-insured employers, and multi-party defendant cases. Mr. Allan currently represents self-insured employers, third party administrators, insurance companies, and uninsured employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation, including discrimination and serious and willful claims. He also focuses on the interaction of FEHA with workers’ compensation, with an eye towards minimizing the employer’s potential exposure, as well as working on employer-side labor and employment issues.
    Mr. Allan is a graduate of Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he studied political science and policy studies. In 2003 Mr. Allan joined the California Bar, having earned a joint Juris Doctorate and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

   Johnnie B. Beer, Jr. is an associate with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Sacramento office location.  Mr. Beer earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of California, Davis, before moving on to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree at McGeorge School of Law.
   Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2006, Mr. Beer had a number of years of workers’ compensation defense litigation experience and also worked for the California Department of Food & Agriculture as counsel.

   Juan J. Naranjo is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Riverside office location.  Mr. Naranjo earned his Bachelor’s Degree with California State University in Los Angeles before continuing on to the University of La Verne College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree.

    In his law school studies, Mr. Naranjo was the published author of a law review article and earned several academic awards.

   Kevin A. Wells is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP working in the firm’s Orange County office location.  Mr. Wells obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Communications at Arizona State University before obtaining his Juris Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law.
   Prior to joining the Law offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, Mr. Wells obtained workers’ compensation experience in the San Diego and Orange County areas.  Mr. Wells came to the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2007 as a welcome addition to the firm’s litigation team.

   Laura J. Bintliff is the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Ventura County office location.
   Ms. Bintliff is a Certified Specialist in workers’ compensation law with 15 years’ experience in this area of the law.  In addition, Ms. Bintliff has prior experience in workers’ compensation subrogation and civil litigation involving employment and disability-related discrimination issues.  Ms. Bintliff was a legal assistant and legal administrator for several years in workers’ compensation law offices bringing a broad range of experience to the defense and handling of workers’ compensation matters.

   Lawrence T. Musso is currently the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s San Diego office location.
   Mr. Musso has practiced law in the State of California since 1988 and has experience in jury Trials in both the Superior and Municipal Courts and administrative law Trials in workers’ compensation since 1991.
    In addition to his practice, he also taught law at the Central California College of Law in Fresno, California and has served as a Judge Pro Tem in both Superior and Municipal Courts.
    Mr. Musso is currently limiting his practice to workers’ compensation law and is a Certified Specialist with the State Bar, however, he is licensed to practice before all State and Federal Courts in the State of California.

   Michael G. McConville is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Pasadena office location.
   Mr. McConville graduated from Southwestern University of Law and passed the State Bar in 1983.  Since that time, he has divided his practice between workers’ compensation defense and civil litigation.  During his 15 years of workers’ compensation experience, he also handled crossover issues involving subrogation.  His broad experience in both fields brings a practical approach to the issue of subrogation.

   Michael M. Sela is an associate attorney with Floyd Skeren & Kelly's Culver City Office Location. After years of medical practice, Clinical Assistant Professorship at University of California, Los Angeles and teaching at facilities such as Stanford University Medical Center, Mr. Sela now devotes his time exclusively to the practice of law. Mr. Sela joined Floyd, Skeren & Kelly's Culver City Office in 2007. Mr. Sela represents employers, third party administrators, insurance companies and self-insured entities in all aspects of workers' compensation, including 132a discrimination claims, serious and willful misconduct allegations and standard issues arising out of the underlying case in chief.
   With his years of medical experience, practice, and teaching and as a Fellow of the American Colleges of Surgeons and Gynecologists / Obstetricians, Mr. Sela brings unique first hand medical knowledge to his practice of law. Mr. Sela uses his knowledge and experience in consulting with many of the firm's attorneys on cases involving complex medical issues and depositions of physicians.

   Mitch Mays, a seasoned Trial attorney, is associated with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Ventura County office location.
   After serving three years in the Army’s 82nd Airborne, Mr. Mays graduated from Pepperdine’s School of Law, passing the State Bar the same year in 1981.  He began his career as an attorney with a small Ventura firm representing applicants in the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) and gaining invaluable Trial experience in the Criminal Courts as a member of Conflict Defense Associates in Ventura County.
   Mr. Mays made the jump to the workers compensation defense side full time in 1988 and has never looked back.  He has worked both for private defense firms and as in-house counsel for CIGNA Insurance.  He has represented third party administrators, various insurance companies, self-insured employers, uninsured employers, public agencies and school districts.
   Mr. Mays has volunteered, served and is currently serving as a director on various non-profit boards and as legal advisor to several other organizations. 

   Paul W. Young is an associate attorney with the Law offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our Pasadena location.
   Mr. Young earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles before going on to earn his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of La Verne.
   Mr. Young began his career working in civil litigation and has successfully tried numerous cases before the Superior Court of California. Mr. Young has worked in the workers' compensation field since 1995, including the initiation, development and daily operation of his own law firm for over 5 years.
   Mr. Young brings his substantial experience in the aggressive defense of all workers' compensation matters which includes the representation of employers, insurance companies, self-insured entities, and uninsured employers in all standard litigation of matters before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). Mr. Young also represents employers and self-insured entities in matters involving 132a discrimination claims and Serious and Willful misconduct allegations.

   Robert A. Rose is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Thousand Oaks office location.  Mr. Rose obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge, before going on to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree with Pepperdine University School of Law.
   Mr. Rose has over 16 years experience in workers’ compensation matters ranging from standard litigation of workers’ compensation claims to defense of serious and willful misconduct allegations.  Throughout his career, Mr. Rose has represented employers, insurance companies, third party administrators and uninsured employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation.

   Robert C. Nichols is an associate and senior trial attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in the firms’ Thousand Oaks office. He is a graduate of Cal State University Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and was awarded a Juris Doctor Degree, Cum Laude, from the San Fernando Valley College of Law.
   For over thirty years, Mr. Nichols has specialized in the defense of all aspects of Workers’ Compensation matters including all standard issues, discrimination claims filed under Labor Code 132a and Serious and Willful Claims, at both the trial and the appellate levels. He has also handled subrogation matters and the defense of personal injury matters. Mr. Nichols has tried numerous cases before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and appeared before the California Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court. Mr. Nichols works closely with self-insured employers, third party administrators and insurance carriers.
   Mr. Nichols has been a lecturer at the California Self-Insurers Association, California Manufacturers Association and numerous claims organizations. He has also served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and the Los Angeles Superior Courts.
   In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Nichols has worked for over 23 years as a Certified Level I Reserve Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and has worked uniform patrol, Special Problems Unit, Divisional Vice and Detective Headquarters Motorcycle Gang Unit. His experience has included representing officer in discipline matters at the trial and appellate levels and the representation of officers in civil rights matters.

   Robert J. Chimits is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in the firm’s Orange County office location.  Having completed his undergraduate education at Mesa College, Mr. Chimits went on to graduate from Western State University College of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree.  After obtaining 15 years of workers’ compensation experience, Mr. Chimits joined the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2004.
   Mr. Chimits was lead counsel on behalf of the city of Anaheim in the case of Fenn vs. Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB),a published 4th District Court of Appeal Opinion wherein Mr. Chimits successfully protected the interests of the city of Anaheim.

   After finishing Law School in 1975, Mr. Cartozian began in private practice as a General Practitioner for a period of about 10 years in the Sacramento area. Areas of practice at that time included family law, adoptions, criminal defense, Bankruptcy, personal injury, corporate and business transactions, juvenile matters, wills, probate, collections, mechanics liens, etc. In 1985 he became associated with Industrial Indemnity – House Counsel and focused his concentration on the defense of workers compensation claims, workers compensation subrogation, defense of 132a and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims. After 10 years he opened his private practice with a partner and continued the same type work. From 1997 to 2007 he was associated with and became a partner with the workers compensation defense law firm of Gray & Prouty. Mr. Cartozian has been with the FS&K law firm since October 2007.
   Mr. Cartozian thus brings with him a 10 year general practice background and over 27 years of workers compensation defense experience where his clients have included insurance companies, third party administrators, private employers, school districts, and public agencies. He has made presentations on a variety of topics in the workers compensation arena to groups of varying size and experience.
   Mr. Cartozian is licensed to practice before all state Courts of the State of California, has appeared at most of the Workers Compensation Appeals Board District Offices in California, and in June 2005 was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

   Stacy S. Lee is an associate attorney with the law offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Orange County and Culver City offices. Ms. Lee graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in public policy. She graduated cum laude from Chapman University School of Law in 2006, and was admitted to the state bar in December 2006.
    Prior to attending law school, Ms. Lee worked as a workers’ compensation claims manager for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Since entering the bar, she has aggressively defended workers’ compensation cases before nearly every Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board in Southern California.
    Ms. Lee currently represents employers, third party administrators, insurance companies, self-insured entities and uninsured employers in the defense of workers’ compensation matters. Ms. Lee has also successfully handled Labor Code Section §132(a) and serious and willful claims filed against employers.

   Steve Alves is an associate attorney of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our Pasadena office location. He represents insurance companies, third party administrators, and employers in workers’ compensation matters.
   Mr. Alves was admitted to the California Bar with nearly eight years of experience in the workers’ compensation industry. As a claims examiner for some of the industry’s leading insurance carriers and third-party administrators, he managed a variety of cases for employers, which ranged from small companies to public entities. He also served as a dedicated examiner for several national accounts, including the NBA and NHL.
   As an attorney, Mr. Alves has experience defending employers against workers’ compensation claims throughout the State of California. With a unique perspective of his clients and a thorough understanding of their litigation management guidelines, he continues to provide rigorous and responsive representation to his clients. Mr. Alves holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Chapman University, and a juris doctorate degree from Glendale University College of Law.

   Tiara L. Burnette is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Pasadena office location. Ms. Burnette earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Minnesota State University before going on to earn her Juris Doctorate Degree from Hamline University School of Law.
   While attending college and law school, Ms. Burnette received numerous awards and honors. She earned the Honors Apprentice Academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Minnesota State University. She earned the Presidential Academic scholarship for law school, was a member of the National Moot Court team, and was on the Dean’s List. She also served two federal judicial internships before moving to the private sector.
   Ms. Burnette represents third party administrators, insurance companies, self-insured entities, and employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and also defends individuals in criminal matters before the Superior Court of California.

   Troy Slaten is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren, & Kelly, LLP in our firm's Calabasas headquarters location. He is the managing attorney of the firm's criminal defense practice.
   Mr. Slaten earned his Bachelor's Degree, with honors, in English Literature from The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at Pepperdine University School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Slaten actively participated on the honors Trial Team winning awards at various trial competitions.
    Before devoting his efforts to practice criminal defense, Mr. Slaten began his legal career working for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. At the DA's office, he was involved in the prosecution of various felonies and misdemeanors ranging from complex fraud cases to drug, theft, and sex cases.
    Mr. Slaten is certified to administer and evaluate Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs) by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). He is certified on the Alcosensor Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) device commonly used in DUI investigations. He regularly attends seminars and lectures on criminal defense and DUI defense. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, National College of DUI Defense, California DUI Lawyers Association, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Criminal Courts Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, Los Angeles Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
    Mr. Slaten is licensed to practice law in all the courts of The State of California, as well as in The District of Columbia.

   Victoria Alexeeva is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Oakland location. Ms. Alexeeva earned her Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and French from Santa Clara University in 1999 and received a Juris Doctorate Degree in 2003 from Golden Gate University School of Law.
   Prior to joining Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in 2008, Ms. Alexeeva has worked as an in-house counsel for approximately four years representing Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and its policy holders in workers’ compensation and civil litigation matters. Ms. Alexeeva currently represents employers, insurance companies, self-insured entities and uninsured employers in all matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) including standard defense litigation, 132a discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations. Ms. Alexeeva is fluent in Russian, Ukranian and speaks conversational French. Ms. Alexeeva also has a published article in the Cardoza Women’s Law Journal.

   Zlatan F. Muminovic is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm’s Riverside office location.  Mr. Muminovic graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Mercy College before obtaining his Masters of Science and Health Administration Degree from California State University, Northridge.  Subsequently, Mr. Muminovic obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.
   Prior to beginning his employment with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, Mr. Muminovic had several years of workers’ compensation experience aggressively litigating matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
   Mr. Muminovic currently represents third party administrators, insurance entities, self-insured entities and uninsured employers in defense of workers’ compensation matters.  In this capacity, Mr. Muminovic litigates standard workers’ compensation issues as well as defense of 132a and serious and willful misconduct allegations.

   Jeffrey S. Springer was an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly’s Calabasas office location.  After obtaining his Undergraduate Degree with California State University, Northridge, Mr. Springer went on to graduate from Pepperdine University School of Law and joined the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in 1989 as one of the firm’s first attorneys.
   Jeff Springer lost his fight with cancer and succumbed to its ravages.  Jeff never gave up a fight to defend his clients, nor beat the demon cancer that took his life. His attitude throughout the five-year battle was never dispirited. He was always positive and repeatedly said that he would beat the cancer and would be back better than ever. 
   Jeff’s contribution to the firm’s reputation and growth cannot be overstated. His diligence exemplifies our firm’s assertion that “the defense never rests”.  Even while ill he persisted in defending his clients without complaint and without them knowing his condition.
